It is that time of year again, the 161st Elmvale Fall Fair is Thanksgiving weekend and we are looking for participants to be a part of the Senior Ambassador and Junior Ambassador Competitions. Take advantage of this great opportunity if you are interested in public speaking, meeting new people, representing the community and trying new things.

Senior Ambassador

Eligibility: The contest is open to any per- son 15 years of age and older.

Judging: This year’s contest will be held on Sunday Oct. 1, 2023. This will be a gath- ering where participants will enjoy some fellowship with each other, committee members, members from the Fair Board, the previous Ambassadors and this year’s judges, over some light refreshments. Each contestant will have an interview with the panel of judges. After the interviews the participants will introduce themselves in front of the audience, answer an im- promptu question and deliver a 3-5 minute speech on the topic of their choice. An audience will be encouraged to listen to the impromptu speeches as well as the prepared speeches. The Ambassador and Runner-Ups will be announced at the con- clusion of the event. This will allow them to enjoy a whole week leading up to and in- cluding a fun-filled weekend at the Fair the next weekend. There will be many events to participate in during the week and on Fair weekend including riding in both Friday and Saturday parades, bringing greetings, hand- ing out ribbons, greeting Fair goers and over all, enjoying the Fair while representing the Flos Agricultural Society.

Duties: The Senior Fair Ambassador will be required to attend a number of events rep- resenting the Flos Agricultural Society fol- lowing the Fair weekend. This list includes, but is not limited to, the O.A.A.S. District

5 Meeting in October, participation in the Elmvale Santa Clause Parade in December, attend the Provincial (3-day) O.A.A.S. Convention in February, the O.A.A.S. District 5 Ambassador Program in June, as well as compete in the CNE Ambassador of the Fairs Competition in August ** Note must be 18 years of age by the beginning of August to be eligible. Each participant in the contest will receive a cash prize.

Junior Ambassador

Eligibility: The contest is open to any per- son in grades 7 and 8.

Judging: Sunday Oct. 1, 2023 will be this year’s contest. This will be a gather- ing where participants will enjoy some fellowship with each other, committee members, members from the Fair Board, the previous Ambassadors and this year’s judges, over some light refreshments. Each contestant will have an interview with the panel of judges. Participants will be judged on personality, communication skills, their personal introductions in front of the audi- ence, creativity (flag/banner), Community involvement and a 2 minute speech with the topic being this year’s theme “Sew it, Grow It, Show it”

Duties: The Junior Ambassador will attend a few functions with Senior Fair Ambassa- dor throughout the year on behalf of the Flos Agricultural Society. Each participant in the contest will receive a cash prize.

How to Enter a Competition

Competition Rules

General Rules and Regulation

Each exhibitor, upon arriving on the grounds, must apply to the Committee in charge, who will inform the exhibitor where the animals or articles are to be placed.

Judging Standards

Our local Committee members do not judge at our Fair. The Society hires and pays for qualified and impartial judges.
