PICK-UP RULES: All exhibits in the Hall to be left until 4:30 pm on Saturday, October 7, 2023. At 4 pm the adult home craft area will be closed to spectators as volunteers prepare articles/exhibits for pick-up. At 4:30 pm, ONLY exhibitors and/or their designates will be permitted into the Hall to gather entries. Proof of ownership may be required. You MAY send your entry form to the Secretary by Monday, October 2, 2023 and your tags will be ready when you arrive with your exhibits on Wednesday. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE IN AND READY TO BE JUDGED BY 8:30 PM WEDNESDAY EVENING, OCTOBER 4, 2023.. Please observe the rules.

  • Exhibits must be the SOLE work of the exhibitor unless otherwise stated
  • All work must be new.
  • Exhibiting of articles in our Fair is intended for individuals who engage in their craft as a pastime or hobby.
  • In order to keep a high standard at our Fair, judges have been authorized to DIS- QUALIFY all soiled, defective, incomplete, or worn entries; or those previously exhibited at the Elmvale Fall Fair. We expect honesty.
  • Signature labels must be covered.
  • Use safety pins only, NO STRAIGHT PINS.
  • Include name of quilt pattern (method), and designer, if known. Please ac- knowledgeable designers and source of patterns, (e.g. Pinterest and this includes knitted, crocheted & counted cross-stitch items if purchased from a kit, ie-Mary Maxim). Please recognize their efforts. You are invited to include your inspiration (sto- ry behind, or reason) for making your quilt.
  • Fabric and/or yarn samples are to be included with all entries. Failure to attach sufficient samples will result in disqualification.
  • Wreaths and Artwork must be equipped for hanging unless specified otherwise.
  • Fabric casings/sleeves (may be temporary) must be attached to all Quilts and Wall Hangings, so that they may be hung for display.
  • All winning entries in the Hand and Domestic Machine Quilting categories qualify to advance to District (October) and possibly Provincial (February) level competitions if all criteria are met. Please indicate on your entry tag if you DO NOT wish your entry to advance.

ONTARIO ASSOCIATION OF AGRICULTURAL SOCIETIES ANNUAL HAND QUILTED CHAMPIONSHIP QUILT COMPETITION

ELIGIBILITY, RULES AND REGULATIONS

General Conditions:

  1. Entries must be SOLELY MADE AND HAND QUILTED by the exhibitor and exhibited and judged at a local Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies’ (O.A.A.S.) Fair to be eligible for this competition.
  2. Entry quilts must be a minimum of 324” measured on the perimeter (smaller quilts will not be eligible to proceed to the next levels of competition). Note the quilt can be square, rectangular etc. All four sides must be measured to determine the perimeter measurement. The quilting must be through all 3 layers (top, batting & back) and not be mounted on a frame.
  3. A Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion are judged from all the first and second prize ELIGIBLE hand-quilted Quilts at our Fair. Judging will occur at local fairs and district levels. A Provincial Grand Champion Quilt will be selected at the Annual Convention of O.A.A.S.
  4. Upon making an entry into the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Quilt Competition, the Exhibitor agrees to participate in any promotional activities related to the competition.
  5. The winning O.A.A.S. Champion quilt will not be eligible to compete in any future District and/or Convention O.A.A.S. Provincial competitions.
  6. The winners’ name and pattern to be displayed at the Fair on sign provided by O.A.A.S.

 

O.A.A.S. ANNUAL “MACHINE QUILTED QUILT” CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION

ELIGIBILITY, RULES AND REGULATIONS

General Conditions:

  1. Quilt must be SOLELY MADE AND MACHINE QUILTED by the exhibitor and exhibited and judged at a local Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies’ (O.A.A.S.) Fair to be eligible for this competition.
  2. Quilt to be measured on the perimeter. Total perimeter measurement to be a minimum of 324 inches. Note the quilt can be square, rectangular etc. All four sides must be measured to determine the perimeter measurement. The quilting must be through all 3 layers (top, batting & back) and not be mounted on a frame
  3. A Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion are judged from all first and second prize ELIGIBLE domestic machine quilted Quilts at our Fair. Judging will occur at local fairs and district levels. A Provincial Grand Champion Machine Quilted Quilt will be selected at the Annual Convention of O.A.A.S.
  4. Upon making an entry into the O.A.A.S. Machine Quilting Competition, the Exhibitor agrees to participate in any promotional activities related to the competition.

Colour, design, binding, construction and overall quilting design to be judged on all quilts unless otherwise stipulated.

General Rules and Regulation

Each exhibitor, upon arriving on the grounds, must apply to the Committee in charge, who will inform the exhibitor where the animals or articles are to be placed.

Judging Standards

Our local Committee members do not judge at our Fair. The Society hires and pays for qualified and impartial judges.
